The BASHI Platform is a startup disrupting the product and fashion industry. The main goal was to offer brands a way to collaborate with creatives so they can earn extra money and work on more meaningful projects. In order to accomplish this BASHI needed a community-based platform connecting brands to on-demand design and development services. Within a four person team working as a Creative Lead, I spearheaded the UX/UI Design to encompass all the functionality needed for the MVP (Minimal Viable Product) to go live. Follow my process below to see how a business idea became a creator community.
After the Business Model Canvas was developed; we needed to incorporate each segment into the platform while proving the site can be user friendly and a valuable tool for all parties who access it. The goal was to provide a more meaningful experience than other freelancing websites compared Fiverr and Upwork. In order to do that we needed our site to be a hybrid of them and other sites like LinkedIn, Facebook, Behance and Airbnb. That way we have a platform that could be a self-sustaining, ever-evolving community.
Using Jira to manage our project, I worked along with our US-based main developer and Hong Kong development team to bring the site to life. I utilized Adobe XD to mockup all the screens needed for the platform. Some of the main screens are the Profile Page, Expertise Pages (digital portfolio where users can transact), Opportunities Page (where Brands can post crowdsourcing projects), My Circle (place to search for Creators and Brands to connect), Circle Feed (forum to post/comment) and Dashboard Page (track earnings, orders and reviews). Then we did a soft launch to our internal network and early adopters to the platform. Users were excited there was finally a site catered towards their industry and metrics results below prove it. After that we conducted focus groups to gain insight on pain points which included fixing the order of form fields for expertise, a better cropping tool for photos and new layout of replies on the Circle Feed. After that we officially launched the BASHI Platform which has all the functionality to foster the community it’s intended for.
